The state’s budget is now signed, sealed and sent to the printer but can it sustain the promise of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s dream of big ticket infrastructure projects?

For those of us who first proposed a Long Island Sound tunnel some eight years ago, the answer is found in the artful maneuvering to close a $4.4 billion deficit in a budget of $168 billion and the political need to outflank the loss of federal cap on state and local tax deductions.

Earlier this year the governor put down his political markers on an idea my company first proposed in 2010: building a cross sound tunnel that would link Long Island to Rye in Westchester. MTA, the busiest transit agency that serves New York City, will be fully staffing its two car overhaul shops 24/7 and will now fully rehabilitate more than 1,300 cars per year in them, New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and MTA Chairman Joseph Lhota announcedApril 6. They said full funding of the $836 million Subway Action Plan has been secured in the FY 2019 state budget, allowing for more hiring and a plan to rehab nearly 40 percent more subway cars in the shops than in previous years.

General Electric & Mass Energy Group to Develop Wind Project

General Electric Company ‘s GERenewable Energy segment recently signed a contract with Mass Energy Group Holding – a subsidiary of Mass Global – for the development of 100 MW Mass Wind project in Jordan.

Per the deal, General Electric will offer its modern generation of 3.6-137 wind turbines to Mass Energy Group, which in turn, will help this clean energy project to meet its power requirements of more than 150,000 houses. The project marks the first of this type in Jordan for both the companies.

Notably, GE Renewable Energy, along with its consortium partner, Elecnor, inked a contract for the engineering, procurement as well as construction of the project. Working in collaboration with Mass Global, General Electric will provide its modern wind technology, which is expected to boost Jordan’s renewable energy sector and strengthen its capability of domestic energy production.
