South Florida Construction Timetable for All Aboard Florida

Well now we have the whole big construction schedule that Florida East Coast Railway will be doing for the new All Aboard Florida trains.

See the full article from the Sun-Sentinel.

Some of the most interesting points are:

Railroad crossings, including 115 in Palm Beach County, 67 in Broward and 19 in Miami-Dade, will be rebuilt starting in early 2015 as a second track is laid down and new lights and gates are installed.

We just recently covered how FEC was “getting all its stations in a row

The entire corridor between Miami and West Palm Beach will be double-tracked starting early next year.

Some stretches, such as in downtown Fort Lauderdale, already have two tracks. But the tracks north of Broward Boulevard will shift slightly to accommodate the station.

A third track will be built at both the Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach stations to allow freight trains to pass if All Aboard Florida’s trains are stopped to board passengers.

The drawbridges and the Coast Guard is a whole ‘nother story.

Stay tuned as this whole project develops.
