Utica Comets Can’t Stop Chicago Wolves / DeFazio Returns

Well, it had to happen sooner or later.

The Utica Comets were shutout 3-0 by the Chicago Wolves at The AUD on Wednesday night. Despite outshooting the Wolves 30-19, the Comets suffered just their second regulation loss of the season.

Chicago’s goaltender, Jordan Binnington stopped all 30 shots taken by the Comets and was also named first star of the game.

The Comets will look for retribution Friday night at The AUD against the same Chicago Wolves. Puck drop is set for 7pm, and tickets are already sold out.

The Comets played without alternate captain Brandon DeFazio, who was on his way back to Utica after a two-game stint with the parent team Vancouver Canucks.

DeFazio, who had played in all 89 previous Comets games over the last two seasons, played for Utica Friday in Cleveland and Saturday in Rochester, then joined the Canucks for a Sunday game in Anaheim and played again Tuesday against the Ottawa Senators in Vancouver.
